Sussex adventure weekend

Feel the need for a break away from reality? Want to get out of the city, into the wild and have an adventurous weekend? We’ve got just the thing for you with a Sussex adventure weekend! Wild Boar Wood is great for short getaways, being surrounded by nature and wildlife is the perfect antidote to Monday to Friday city living. We are a very family oriented campsite and don’t generally accept groups of adults. But in the quieter seasons, out of school holidays, we may be able to do something for you. Perhaps you’re a small group wanting to getaway for a couple of nights? Give us a call and we’ll see what we can do!

We’ve put together this example itinerary for a Sussex adventure weekend. But you don’t have to stick to our ideas, just check our things to do page for even more options.

Sussex Adventure Weekend – Day One

Arrive at the campsite where your bell tent will be ready, set up and waiting for you. All you need to bring with you is your bedding and food/drink for the weekend. So rest assured you can pack light, leave straight after work and get settled right away.

Tonight is all about the campfire. Get this lit once you arrive and you can keep it burning until it’s time to lay down your heads. Cook yourself up a delicious campfire meal, open a bottle of wine and relax under the stars.

Sussex Adventure Weekend – Day Two

Today is the day that will tingle your tastebuds! Book into the High Weald Dairy’s cheese dairy tour and tasting experience. This will start at 11am and last around 2 hours, giving you plenty of time to experience a real working cheese dairy and taste up to seven local cheeses.

What goes well with cheese we hear you ask? Wine! Take a lovely country walk to the local Bluebell Vineyard. Here you can sample a number of wines and if you fancy it, take a tour of the vineyard too.

By the time your day is over you have another relaxed evening by the campfire. If you’ve thought ahead you will have picked up some of the High Weald Dairy’s delicious halloumi. Grill this over the campfire and serve with a fresh summer salad.

Don’t fancy cooking after your day of activities? Take a stroll to one of the local country pubs for dinner

Sussex Adventure Weekend – Day Three

You may have only booked two nights away, in which case it will be time to pack your bags. But don’t worry, the adventure isn’t over yet! Book yourselves in to a kayak tour with local company The Kayak Coach. Try their River Ouse trip, this takes around 2.5 hours and starts in Lewes, roughly five miles from the campsite. No experience required and all equipment provided, you’ll have a lovely meader through the Sussex countryside by kayak.
