Woods Mill Nature Reserve, near Henfield, is a great place to find out more about the work of the Sussex Wildlife Trust and see it in action as it is the headquarters for the Trust, as well as a great nature reserve.

The reserve is made up of 47 acres of wetlands and woodland habitats which provide a home for an impressive number of species including mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and insects.

The landscape represents an example of what much of Sussex would have looked like if it was untouched by development. You can walk along streams and through woodlands. Through unimproved meadows and around the lake to see the wildlife that thrives here. There is a Woods Mill warden on site throughout the summer. Often, there are activities to help visitors learn more about the natural environment, such as pond-dipping for children.

Woods Mill Nature Reserve is about an houes drive from Beech Estate Campsite and even closer to Wild Boar Wood. The campsites make the perfect place to base yourself if you would like to see more Sussex wildlife. Both sites are home to an abundance of woodland wildlife including butterflies, owls and deer.
