Things to do

Hever Castle

Hever Castle is around thirty eight miles from Beech Estate Campsite.

The romantic moated castle at Hever was once home to Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII and mother to Queen Elizabeth I. There has been a castle at Hever since the 13th century. Today, visitors can find out about the twelve families that have called this grand country house home during the last 700 years with a look around the castle and grounds. There are plenty of reminders of former residents through the stunning interiors and artefacts on display, including many reminders of its most famous resident Anne Boleyn. The castle was her childhood home and it is thought that King Henry VIII visited the castle several times during their courtship.

Surrounding the castle are 125 acres of beautiful formal gardens and wider parkland which you can also explore during a visit here. Discover the Italian, Rose Gardens, take a stroll around the lake and get lost in the yew maze. The well-looked-after grounds offer changing colours through the seasons and are beautiful throughout the year.

Hever Castle also has a choice of restaurants and cafes on site and a shop and hosts seasonal events throughout the year.
