Campsites Managers: Leanne and Joe
Leanne and Joe, pictured below, first ran our Beech Estate Campsite during the 2020 camping season as our Campsite Wardens. With a real interest in the outdoors and true adventurous spirits, the couple have travelled the world – you can check out their adventures via instagram! After a three year break they were back again in 2024, managing the campsite, as our Campsite Managers and are returning again in 2025. You’ll meet them at reception or out and about around the campsite, making sure all our campers have an enjoyable stay. Ask them about their recent travelling adventures or ask for some of their tips on campfire cooking.
Helen and Bruno have joined the team to look after Wild Boar Wood Campsite in 2026.
They first arrived at Wild Boar Wood in March on their bicycles, with daft sandal tan lines and worn-out chains. They had just flown into Gatwick, after a seven month cycling tour from Scotland to Senegal. After pitching their teeny tent in the Sahara night after night, upgrading to a shepherd’s hut in Wild Boar Wood was a treat! Once they’ve welcomed new arrivals to the woods, they spend their time fermenting, brewing, baking and gardening. Ask Bruno about his latest idea for a children’s book about camping; Helen will gladly share tips on local running routes.
In the office: Hugh and Steve
Hugh, is the man behind Beech Estate and Wild Boar Wood Campsites (formerly Eco Camp UK). An Aussie by birth and a Brightonian by choice, Hugh started Eco Camp UK back in 2010, since renamed Pegs and Pitches Camping. His idea was to provide the essence of wild camping in a way that was environmentally friendly, easy and enjoyable for families. Hugh is married with three children.
Steve is the Booking and Admin Executive and will likely be the person you’ll talk to on the phone or via email if you have any questions. Steve and his family also live in Brighton, and have a great love of the outdoors and are keen campers in their spare time. Steve still enjoys getting up and down the football pitch and walking the family dog.
