Beech Estate bookings open for 2022 season

Enjoy Sussex camping with fires again from April 1st

The camping season is only just coming to an end but we’re already getting excited about the start of the 2022 camping season. We’ve already seen an influx of keen campers booking their Sussex camping trip with us in the forest. Our Beech Estate Campsite re-opens for the camping season on April 1st. There’s a lot to look forward to with a spring-time stay. Whether you want to pitch your own tent among the trees or stay in one of our “wild glamping” bell tents…

Bell tent glamping in bluebells

The 600-acre woodland bursts to life with a carpet of beautiful bluebells in April or May. But it’s not just the bluebells that seem to come out of hibernation. All sorts of woodland wildlife and birdlife spring into action at this time of year (pardon the pun) making it a perfect place for nature lovers.

Campsite Improvements

In 2019 we made a number of improvements to the campsite, including brand new top of the range compost toilets. Our compost toilets were designed in partnership with Jason Thawley of Tree Tents and have been a huge hit so far. In total, we now have nine toilets for our campers: four flushing loos and five composting ones and six showers too. We want our campers to relax and take it easy in the woodland. Taking your time over an outdoor bucket shower without having to queue is an absolute joy. Having said that, our bucket showers are designed to help eco campers conserve their water use and enjoy the sound of birdsong while they lather up. Read our guide to bucket showers for more details.

2021 saw a good refresh of our bucket showers and washing up facilities and during our off season we hope to renovate our flushing toilets too! Camping just gets better and better with all the seen and unseen improvements we make in the off season and even during camping season too.

Our lovely wardens have also been updating the signage around the campsite and of course the all important pub walks! Have a chat with them on site for advice on which local pub to take a walk to from the campsite.

Great wardens

We’ll be welcoming back Ben to Beech Estate campsite for the 2022 season and will be looking for two further wardens to help him out this season. Check out the job description if you’re interested! Our wardens love living the off grid lifestyle and are always happy to give you tips and tricks on your camping trips to make your stay even more enjoyable. Ask them about the beautiful woodland and all the wildlife that lives there, they know the area well, so utilise their expertise!

Early May bank holiday camping

If the last couple of years are anything to go by we can look forward to some unseasonably warm weather. But in case it’s not warm our Sussex camping site allows campfires to make sure you stay toasty! The woodland looks different throughout the year, but the spring season is a special time with all the new growth and vibrancy.
