Beech Estate bookings open for 2020 season

Enjoy Sussex camping with fires again from April 1st

We’re starting to get excited about the start of the 2020 camping season and we’ve already seen an influx of keen campers booking their Sussex camping trip with us in the forest. Our Beech Estate Campsite re-opens for the camping season on April 1st. There’s a lot to look forward to with a spring-time stay. Whether you want to pitch your own tent among the trees or stay in one of our “wild glamping” bell tents…

Bluebells

The 600-acre woodland bursts to life with a carpet of beautiful bluebells in April or May. But it’s not just the bluebells that seem to come out of hibernation. All sorts of woodland wildlife and birdlife spring into action at this time of year (pardon the pun) making it a perfect place for nature lovers.

Campsite Improvements

In 2019 we made a number of improvements to the campsite, including brand new top of the range compost toilets. Our compost toilets were designed in partnership with Jason Thawley of Tree Tents and have been a huge hit so far. In total, we now have nine toilets for our campers: four flushing loos and five composting ones and eight showers too. We want our campers to relax and take it easy in the woodland. Taking your time over an outdoor bucket shower without having to queue is an absolute joy. Having said that, our bucket showers are designed to help eco campers conserve their water use and enjoy the sound of birdsong while they lather up. Read our guide to bucket showers for more details.

Great wardens

Our popular campsite wardens, Loz and Theresa, have decided to move on in 2020. We’ve had the joy of working with them for years and are very sad to see them go. However, we will be welcoming some lovely new wardens to the campsite. They’ll be offering you a very warm welcome and advice during your stay.

Early May bank holiday camping

If the last couple of years are anything to go by we can look forward to some unseasonably warm weather. But in case it’s not warm our Sussex camping site allows campfires to make sure you stay toasty! The woodland looks different throughout the year, but the spring season is a special time with all the new growth and vibrancy.

Just remember that the Bank Holiday falls on a Friday for the early May bank holiday in 2020.
