Beech Estate Campsite has proved to be one of the best camping sites in East Sussex. We opened the site for the first time in 2012. That year we were open for just a month, but the experience we offer, of camping in a 500-acre woodland, on a private estate near the South Coast beaches, proved extremely popular. Campers especially loved the fact that each pitch at the campsite has a campfire pit. Camping and open fires go hand in hand.
The campsite is located near the historic town of Battle in the East Sussex countryside – famous for its battlefield and related abbey – and has our ‘easy-camping’ fully-equipped bell tents, as well as our forest tent pitches, for campers wanting to pitch their own tents. We also hire the whole campsite for groups, weddings and parties.
We must have done something right, and created a fairly good camping experience, as the lovely people at Cool Camping listed Beech Estate Campsite on their website. But that wasn’t the end of their endorsement of our campsite as one of the best campsites in East Sussex. We were overjoyed in 2013 to be included in, what we at Eco Camp believe to be the the best camping guide book around – ‘Cool Camping Britain‘. It feels great to be selected as one of the top camping sites in the UK, as well as one of the best camping sites in East Sussex.
You can read what the gang at Cool Camping say about our East Sussex campsite below or by clicking here – Beech Estate Cool Camping Listing. We seem to have received some nice reviews from campers who use the site as well!
“There’s camping, and then there’s off-grid camping. Eco Camp UK Beech Estate is most definitely the latter – no electricity, no mobile phone signal, wheelbarrow your gear to the tent, eco toilets – you even have to light a fire to heat up your own shower. If that all sounds like too much effort, then please turn the page for something more suitable. If it sounds like the perfect escape, you’re in for a real treat.
Beech Estate is the second campsite from off- grid specialists Eco Camp UK (the first being a bell-tent-only affair in West Sussex) and this location has one major advantage – you can bring your own tent. The pitches are spaced out in individual clearings in the woodland of 1900-acre Beech Estate. If that doesn’t sound like camping heaven already, then just wait for the punchline: the 500 acres of woodland on which the site is located is for the exclusive use of Beech Estate guests to walk, mountain bike and generally run wild.
Additional non-woodland pitches are available on a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside; pre-erected bell tents are also available, and it’s fair to say these are functional rather than luxuriously appointed. Just what you’d expect in this off-grid, back-to-basics paradise.”
Bookings are now open for our East Sussex campsite in the woods via our website.
Happy camping to all our eco campers!
